There are three types of van keys / remote fobs / smart keys that will need programming in order for you to be able to lock, unlock and start your van. One is an emergency transponder key, this is a key that has a transponder in the key head that is coded to your van but does not have buttons on it to remotely open and lock your van.

The other is a traditional remote fob which does have buttons to open and unlock your van and also has a transponder in it which needs to be coded to your van.

Smart keys

Smart keys / keyless entry allows you to lock and unlock your van without touching the key.

As long as you have the smart key with you when you approach the van it will lock and unlock. These smart keys can be replaced or repaired by SCOTT-LOCK LTD at your door, by the roadside or at your place of work.

Commercial Vehicles

Many commercial vehicles are sold and bought second hand with just 1 van key remote so it is always a sensible idea to have an additional remote key or a transponder key made for your van to prevent being stranded or locked out. If your remote key fails your transponder key will allow you to use the van.
